List of Elements In the Transitional Metals Group

Below is a list of elements on the periodic table that belong to the transitional metals group. The 38 elements in groups 3 through 12 of the periodic table are called “transition metals”. As with all metals, the transition elements are both ductile and malleable, and conduct electricity and heat. In the past it referred to any element in the d-block of the periodic table. All elements in the d-block are metals. The modern, IUPAC definition states that a transition metal is “an element whose atom has an incomplete d sub-shell, or which can give rise to cations with an incomplete d sub-shell.” Group 12 elements are not transition metals in this definition.
